OpenAI will offer the ChatGPT Go subscription free for 1 year to users in India. The goal is to take the lead in the country’s Artificial Intelligence race.
OpenAI will hold its first developer event in India on November 4, 2025, in Bengaluru. This event, named “DevDay Exchange,” reflects the company’s importance to the Indian market.
Coinciding with this event, the ChatGPT Go subscription, valued at 189 TL per month, will be offered free for 1 year to all users in India. The plan includes features such as faster responses with GPT-5 support, image generation, and file uploading.
India is OpenAI’s largest market after the United States. The company has opened a local office there and aims to raise AI awareness by collaborating with educational institutions and the government.
Competitors are also active: Google is providing free AI access to students, while Perplexity is reaching millions of users through its partnership with Airtel. OpenAI’s move to offer this free plan could be a strong response in the competition.
